Cottage Grove, Tenn.–A local landmark was destroyed by fire Sunday night.
Carmack’s Fish Barn, located at 2165 Hwy. 140, is a total loss and as of 11 p.m., firefighters were still at the scene.
The initial call to the Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department came in around 8 p.m., with mutual aid provided by Como/Ore Springs, Gleason and Paris Fire departments.
Carmack’s Fish Barn opened in 1984 and quickly became one of the area’s most popular restaurants, known for their catfish, beans, slaw and hush puppies. Not to mention petting zoo animals outside of the restaurant which are especially popular with children and families.
Employees of the restaurant said it had closed at 3 p.m. today and no one seems to have been hurt.
More details will be available Monday.
