Paralympians Dixon, Sass To Compete In Carroll County Saturday

Huntingdon, Tenn.–The third Annual Dixie Triathlon is set for September 18, 2021 at the Carroll County 1000- Acre Recreational Lake.  The triathlon events are swimming, biking, and running in two competition categories, Sprint and Olympic.

Paralympian Amy Dixon of California is coming to Carroll County to race with Kristen Sass of McKenzie in the Dixie Triathlon. Come out to watch and cheer on the athletes.  Dixon and Sass competed in the recent Paralympics in Tokyo.

In the Sprint category, the distances for each event are:

Swimming—500 meters (.3 miles),

Biking—16 miles

Running—5 kilometers (3.1 miles)

In the Olympic category, the distances are:

Swimming—1.5 kilometers (.9 miles)

Biking—40 kilometers (24.8 miles)

Running—10 kilometers (6.2 miles)

 

The 2021 Schedule of Events for Dixie Triathlon

Packet pickup:  Friday, September 17th

Time: 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Place:  Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center, 191 Court Square, Huntingdon, TN

Packet pickup:  Saturday, September 18th

Time: 5:45-7:00 a.m.

Place:  Race Site:  Carroll County 1000-Acre Recreational Lake, Huntingdon, TN

Course rules:  7:15 a.m.

Olympic start:  7:30 a.m.

Sprint start:  8:00 a.m.

The boat ramp at the Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreational Lake will open at 12:30 pm on this date.
