
Dover, Tenn.–Two suspects from Clarksville were arrested Sunday night after an incident in which the driver shot at cruisers from the Stewart and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices and rammed a Montgomery County cruiser.
Arrested were Donald James Robinson and Amber Causey.
A long list of charges were filed against Robinson, who was the driver, including assaulting first responders, evading arrest, being a fugitive from another state and drug charges.
Causey was the passenger and was charged with tampering with evidence and drug charges.
Charges against the driver are also pending in Stewart County.
At approximately 8 pm Deputies Casey Wilburn and Aaron Taylor made a traffic stop on Bagsby Hill Road. The driver of the convertible vehicle could not produce a valid drivers license and when Deputy Wilburn attempted to run the suspect through the NCIC computer, he speed away.
The vehicle fled on Hwy. 79 towards Montgomery County along with a female passenger. The two suspects appeared to throw items believed to be drugs from the vehicle, according to the press release from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office.
As they neared the Montgomery/Stewart County line the driver started waving a weapon and pointing at the deputies. Once into Montgomery County at speeds over 100 mph the driver fired at least 3 rounds at the deputies striking the windshield of the unit of Deputy Wilburn. Montgomery Sheriff’s Office also became involved in the pursuit and the driver also fired rounds at them striking one of the deputies vehicle and also ramming another Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.
The driver ran off the roadway in the area of Calvert Drive and fled on foot, the female passenger was taken into custody. A perimeter was set up by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Robbie MacDonald and K-9 Harry arrived at the scene and K-9 Harry tracked the suspect to a nearby residence where the driver was located with 2 other individuals, which at that time was taken into custody. The weapon was found and the deputies did locate some meth near the area the driver and passenger were discarding items in Stewart County.
