Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Fair, along with Homestead Gardens and Gifts, has provided a tomato plant to each student in the Paris Special Schools District in the second and third grades.
Fair spokesperson Michelle Hopkins said that amounts to approximately 325 students. “Our hope is to get children excited about gardening and eating more fruits and vegetables, she said. The tomato plants come with “all the information they need to replant this tomato plant and help it to thrive.”
The Henry County Fair is August 7-14, 2021 and will have a special category to show off the kids’ best tomatoes. Each child’s entry will be judged on quality and awarded a ribbon and prize money will be determined, Hopkins said.
Hopkins noted, “Homestead Gardens and Gifts was kind enough to donate 100% of the plants and information packets for this project!”
Homestead is located at 6003 Antioch Rd. in Springville.
