Paris, Tenn.—The city of Paris retail sales tax revenue grew for the ninth month in a row. That was the report at Thursday evening’s Paris City Commission meeting from City Finance Director Traci Shannon, who said the retail sales tax revenue for December was 14.6 percent.
“We are ahead fiscal year-to-date by 11.2 percent,” she said. “At this time, local consumer spending is remaining strong to previous years.”
Commission members reacted positively to the finance report, noting what good news it is for the community.
General fund revenues are ahead of expenditures for the month of January and also ahead fiscal year-to-date. Some of the larger expenses in January included $133,000 for four new patrol vehicles, $20,000 for a tractor for the parks department; and $36,000 for Splash Pad expenses.
The city issued six business licenses in January:
New Businesses: TakeMeBackHome, Millraney & Hart Construction, Cannon Realty Group, Green E & P Solutions, Eye Deal Optical, Yummy.
