Dresden, Tenn.–Long-time Weakley County Deputy Captain Randall McGowan has retired from the department after 27 years of service.
Captain Randall McGowan’s last day was Friday, February 26
McGowan began his career with the sheriff’s office in 1994 as a Patrol Deputy. He worked in that capacity until the year 2000, when he was promoted to Investigator. He was later promoted to Captain over Investigations and McGowan held that position until his retirement.
Several were on hand for his send-off and shared stories about McGowan. Chief Deputy Mark Black presented McGowan with a plaque and Sheriff Mike Wilson spoke about McGowan’s service and thanked him for the time he devoted to the department.
Sheriff Wilson said, “This job isn’t just a job. It’s a life. Those you work with become like family and it’s hard to see one of them leave but, we all wish Randall a happy retirement and he will be missed at the department.”
McGowan’s duties are being handled by Investigator Marty Plunk.
