
Obion County, Tenn.–The body of the suspect in the shooting deaths of two young duck hunters on Reelfoot Lake on Monday has been recovered.
The TBI reported at 7 p.m. Saturday that the body of David Vowell has been recovered in the waters of Reelfoot Lake.
He was located around 3 p.m., today, near the area of the incident. His identity has been confirmed and an autopsy will be performed.
The TBI, along with Obion County Sheriff’s deputies, TWRA, and Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers from Jackson and Memphis have been searching by land, water and air for Vowell since Monday.
Arrest warrants were issued Tuesday for the arrest of David Vowell, age 70, of Martin, on two counts of first-degree murder.
Vowell was a long-time Martin businessman.
He is wanted for the shooting deaths of 26-year-old Chance Black and 25-year-old Zack Grooms, both of Greenfield.
Black’s father is Weakley County Chief Deputy Mark Black.
Grooms was a recent graduate of Bethel University in McKenzie and was a member of the Archery team.
The shooting occurred Monday around 11 a.m. near Walnut Log on the north end of Reelfoot Lake.
