Five Vehicle Chain-Reaction Injures Two

Murray, Ky.–Two drivers were injured following a five car chain-reaction collision in Murray Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with Clydie Massey, age 72, of Puryear, who said she was driving northbound on North 12th Street and struck the rear end of a vehicle that was stopped.  She said there were four vehicles stopped, and this collision caused each vehicle to strike the one in front of it.

The operators of three of the other vehicles were Jeffery Sedberry, age 54, of Paducah, Meleia Burton, age 64, of Murray, and Shane Smith, age 49, of Mayfield.  They each said they were stopped on 12th Street and were struck in the rear causing them to strike a vehicle in front of them.  Veronica Riddle, age 42, of Hazel, said she was stopped on 12th Street and struck in the rear, but she did not strike any other vehicles.

Jeffery Sedberry and Veronica Riddle were both transported to the emergency room by EMS for treatment of possible injuries.  The Murray Police Department were assisted on scene by the Murray Fire Department and the Murray Calloway County Ambulance Service.
