Big Sandy, Tenn.—Reports on the condition of Jason McMillan of Big Sandy, who was seriously injured during Sunday’s mass shooting in Las Vegas, are mixed.
As WENK/WTPR reported Monday, McMillan was shot twice in the chest and is hospitalized in Las Vegas. His father, Mike McMillan of Big Sandy, flew to Las Vegas to be with him as soon as he heard the news and has been with him ever since.
Rev. Milton Gordon of The Rock—Church of God of Prophecy in Big Sandy, said tonight that the news from McMillan was good yesterday. “Jason was taken off the ventilator and his drainage tubes were removed, but that was yesterday. Today, they said Jason has fluid on his spine and can’t feel his legs.”
Mike McMillan, Gordon said, “is a great man. He’s a great member of the church. He always wants to help around the church.”
Yesterday at the hospital, Mike McMillan was sharing his testimony in the hallway “about how the Lord brought him through his cancer struggles. And about 30 people gathered around and they had a prayer time in the hall,” Gordon said.
Gordon said, “Our church and our community are sticking together. We’re not going to allow this to make us feel fearful. We’re strong in Christ. In Christ we can do all things.”
Jason McMillan lives in California and works as a court law enforcement officer.
