Springville, Tenn.–A truck struck a utility pole and burst into flames Tuesday night in the Springville area and the driver took off before emergency personnel could arrive.
The Springville Volunteer Fire Department was called to 1080 Old Springville Road at 9:54 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found the vehicle already completely involved in flames.
According to Lt. Jena Eubanks of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the investigation showed the 1998 Dodge Ram was southbound on Old Springville Rd. when it exited the left side of the road, attempted to negotiate the curve and collided with the utility pole, catching fire.
The driver ran from the scene and is unknown.
Chuck Asher of the Springville Volunteer Fire Department said seven firefighters were on the scene until 11:45 p.m.
