Paris and Union City, Tenn.–While we all wait for the final results of the Presidential Election, there were record-breaking turnouts Tuesday in Henry and Obion Counties.

In Henry County, a whopping 72.54 percent of the 20,912 registered voters cast their votes Tuesday, which Elections Administrator DeLaina Green said is the highest turnout she has found in her review of local election records.

Election Day in Henry County went smoothly and efficiently, with votes from all 13 precincts (including in-person, absentee and early voting) counted before 10 p.m.

“We moved everybody in and out very smoothly,” Green said. “We had a lot of people with address changes and questions about registration, but that seems to happen every Presidential Election and we were able to get the problems resolved quickly.”

In Obion County, a turnout of 63.2 percent, or 13,593 voters was reported. Election Day in Obion County also went smoothly, with final results posted on the Election Commission’s website before 10 p.m.
