Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor Brent Greer has extended the county masking requirement order through August 29th.

According to Ron Watkins, Henry County Emergency Management Director, Governor
Bill Lee’s Executive Order #55 provides 89 rural Tennessee counties, including Henry
County, the option to issue local masking requirements through August 29.

Watkins said, “Our COVID-19 positive case rate seems to be trending downward during the
last week. Total active cases are down to 177 as of this morning.”

The Henry County Health Dept continues to provide free testing Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. by appointment only.

Mayor Greer said, “This extension will run through the 29th of August and will coincide with the Governors Executive Order. I feel the reduction in the number of positive cases is a good sign masks are working to reduce virus spread in the county. With the start of schools opening this week, we must continue to focus on CDC guidelines to enhance our community health to keep our schools open. I appreciate all the support and cooperation of those who are doing their part.”
