Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Commission and the County Elections Commission will be busy Monday and Tuesday.

The county commissioners is expected to formally accept the resignation of County Mayor Brent Greer at its regular meeting Monday evening. The commission will meet at 5 p.m. in the 911 building at 204 N. Brewer St. in Paris.

The county elections commission will hold a special meeting Tuesday to place the position on the November 3 ballot. The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the elections office at 215 Grove Blvd. in Paris.

Greer announced last month his intention to retire before his term is over. His resignation will be effective on or before November 3. Greer has served as County Mayor for 22 years and said his decision followed ‘thoughtful consideration and meaningful prayers.’

The elections commission will approve the ballot names for the November 3 general election and will be certifying the results of the August election.
