
Murray, Ky.–The Murray Police today presented William Mason with a commendation for his actions April 21 in protecting a co-worker at Goodwill during a knife attack.
The commendation reads:
“On April 21st, 2026, William Mason selflessly placed himself in harm’s way in an effort to protect his co-worker from further injury during a knife attack. While attempting to disarm the attacker, Mr. Mason was himself assaulted with a shovel as well as bitten. Mr. Mason’s decisive and courageous actions directly contributed to stopping the assault, preventing further injury, and ultimately saving the victim’s life. His willingness to act in the face of immediate danger reflects exceptional bravery and a profound concern for the safety of others. Mr. Mason is hereby commended by the Murray Police Department for his heroism, courage, and selfless actions.”
