Suspect Arrested After Distributing Obscene Materials In Churches, Courthouse

Lyon Co., Ky.–A Cadiz man was arrested for distributing obscene materials and possessing an illegal firearm and meth after placing obscene material inside churches in Lyon, Crittenden and Livingston churches and inside the Lyon County Courthouse.
On March 18, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding obscene material which was placed through a door inside a local church. The same material was also placed at the Lyon County Courthouse as well as at churches in Crittenden and Livingston Counties.
The suspect was quickly identified as Larry “Derek” Loveless, age 44, of Cadiz, by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and a warrant was sought for his arrest. Sheriff Brent White spoke to the suspect by phone this week and he pledged to surrender the next day at the Office but failed to do so.
On Saturday, March 28, 2026, just after 8pm, while on patrol, Sheriff’s Deputies Josh Travis and Bradley Dunning, as well as a KSP Trooper located and stopped the suspect in Lyon County on KY 293. The suspect, Larry ‘Derek’ Loveless (44) of Cadiz was arrested and found in possession of an illegal firearm and Methamphetamine. Loveless was charged with the following offenses:
1. Distribution of Obscene Material (2 counts-Lyon County)
2. Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree
3. Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, 2nd Offense, Firearm Enhanced
4. Drug Paraphernalia-Possession
5. Possession of Defaced Firearm
6. Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon
7. Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence-Controlled Substance-1st Offense
8. Distribution of Obscene Material (1 count-Livingston County criminal complaint)
Loveless will be lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by Deputy Josh Travis and Deputy Shannon Oliver.
