Jackson, Tenn.– The Jackson Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday evening on the campus of Lane College.
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on March 28, 2026 officers responded to reports of a person being shot at Orchard Hall, a residence hall. Upon arrival, police discovered a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
One person of interest has been detained in connection with the incident. Investigators are currently working to determine the circumstances and motive surrounding the shooting. This appears to be an isolated incident. The Jackson Police Department is not seeking any additional suspects, and no other students were injured. Additional information will be released as the investigation progresses.
