Paris, Tenn.–A large crowd was on hand this morning for the opening of the World’s Biggest Fish Fry Headquarters and heard two big announcements: Retired Judge Vicki Snyder will be Grand Marshal of the grand parade and the souvenir book was dedicated in memory of the late Wyatt Owens.
Owens’ family was there to accept the dedication. Assistant General Manager Chris Hollingsworth announced the book would be dedicated to Owens’ memory, noting that he served served as a Jaycee for many years and was past-president. Owens had been was presented the U.S. Jaycee Ambassadorship Award, highest award to be given to a local club member. He served as a treasurer and General Manager of the Fish Fry over the years.
Board Vice President Monte Starks made the announcement of Snyder as this year’sgrand marshal, which was a total surprise to her. An emotional Snyder said she was ‘shocked’ and ‘honored’ at the announcement. “I’m deeply honored…I’m deeply blessed’.”
The crowd got its first look at this year’s merchandise, which includes the new t-shirt design, sweatshirts, caps with WBFF and the World’s Biggest Fish Fry logo on them, aprons, fish beads, and more.
Chris Martin is this year’s General Manager. Student winners of the poster contest also were announced and Jaycees served breakfast for everyone. The Fish Fry is always held the last full week in April.
The Paris-Henry County Chamber was on hand for the ribbon-cutting to officially open the headquarters, which is located at 711 E. Wood St.
The headquarters will be open from Monday, March 30 through the Fish Fry: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and some Saturdays.
