Two Concrete Trucks Collide, Claiming One Life

Early this morning, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Ky Hwy 94 in Graves County, claiming the life of one driver who was from Eddyville. The second driver, from Hazel, was injured.
The two vehicles were concrete trucks, travelling in opposite directions. As the two trucks met, they clipped each other, causing both drivers to lose control, leaving the roadway, and overturning. One overturned in a field, the other in a creek.
Both trucks were Advance Manufacturing Brand Concrete Mixer trucks. One was being operated by 24-year-old Conner A. Paschall of Hazel, Ky. Paschall suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The other driver was identified as being 48-year-old Jeremiah A. Smith of Eddyville, Ky. Mr. Smith’s truck was located in a creek overturned. Mr. Smith was pronounced deceased by the Graves County Coroner at the scene.
Graves County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Cuba and Sedalia Fire Departments, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kentucky State Police, and Mayfield Fire and EMS. Deputies also received assistance from the Eddyville Ky Police Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in the notification of next of kin.
Recovery and removal of the two cement mixer trucks took much of the day Monday, and as of the time of this release at 2:40PM, the roadway remained closed.
The investigation into this collision remains under investigation.
