HCHS Speech Team Members On Way To State

Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County High School Speech Team hosted and competed in their district qualifier for the state tournament over the weekend at HCHS. Several students will be attending the Tennessee High School Speech & Drama League’s State Tournament April 24-25th in Jefferson City.
The following students advanced:
Maple Townsend 1st in Impromptu, 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking
Tim Tyler 2nd in Humorous Intepretation, 2nd in Duo Interpretation with Joshua Lancaster
Canaan Barrow 2nd in Dramatic Interpretation, 4th in Original Oratory
Top four in each event qualify for the elite contest. The following students were finalists and while not qualifying outright, still have a chance of moving up to state if others in their events cannot attend for any reason;
AJ Wardlaw 5th in Dramatic Interpretation
Logan Barnhart 5th in Prose, 5th in Program of Oral Interp
Kennedy Burgin, Allie Stephens, Kaidy Losby, Nola Bengel, and Alex Cavalera contributed to the teams effort.
The team has two more competitions this season; the state tournament, and Nationals, in Richmond, VA this June.
The team is coached by David Weatherly.
