Union City, Tenn. — Forever Communications is proud to announce the addition of Robin Francis to its Union City broadcast team. Francis will join the programming staff and serve as the official play-by-play voice for Forever’s Union City High School Golden Tornadoes coverage. Francis will also return to the airwaves at WENK, the very station where he began his broadcasting career more than four decades ago.

Union City High School sports can be heard on FROGGY 99.3, with live video streams available on Facebook, YouTube, and at Sports731.com. Jordan Taylor, Director of the Sports731 Network and Union City Station Manager, said Francis is a perfect fit for the role. “Robin brings experience, credibility, and a deep love for this community,” Taylor said. “He understands Union City, he understands Golden Tornado pride, and he understands great broadcasting. We’re thrilled to have him leading our coverage, and our listeners are going to feel that passion every single game.”

A lifelong Union City area resident and 1983 graduate of Union City High School, Francis began his radio career at just 16 years old at WENK in 1981. Over the next four decades, he built a distinguished career in broadcasting, media leadership, and public service. Francis has served in numerous on-air and leadership roles across Northwest Tennessee, including production and programming positions at multiple regional stations. He has provided play-by-play coverage for high school and college sports since the early 1980s and has been a familiar and trusted voice for generations of local sports fans.

In addition to his broadcasting career, Francis served nearly 21 years with the City of Union City, retiring in January 2026 after serving in supervisor and director roles for the Sports Turf Management & Parks & Recreation departments. Under his leadership, the city’s turf program earned multiple honors, including the prestigious Sports Turf Managers Association Field of the Year award for High School Football.

Throughout his career, Francis has remained deeply connected to Union City athletics, previously hosting postgame shows and serving as a play-by-play voice for Golden Tornado sports.

“I’m incredibly excited to join Forever Communications as the play-by-play lead for Union City High School sports,” Francis said. “Returning to WENK, where my career began, makes this opportunity even more special. I’m proud to be back on the air in my hometown and part of the Forever team.”

Forever Communications looks forward to an exciting new era of Golden Tornado coverage with Francis on the call beginning with the upcoming softball & baseball seasons.
