Canstruction Competition Brings Together NW Tennessee Students

Union City, Tenn.–On Monday, Feb. 9 Discovery Park hosted its annual Canstruction Jr. Competition, bringing together students from across Northwest Tennessee for a day of creativity, teamwork and problem-solving.
Using canned food as their building material, student teams designed and constructed impressive structures while learning about engineering, collaboration and giving back. When the competition wrapped up, 8,995 cans of food, totaling more than 4.5 tons, were donated to help support local food needs.

South Fulton Middle & High School STEM – Best Structural Dresden Elementary School STEM – Most Creative
Union City Schools (High School) – Best in Show
NWTN Homeschool Co-op – Best Use of Labels
Dyer County 4-H – Honorable Mention
Westview High School STEM Club – Honorable Mention
Lake Road Elementary – Honorable Mention
