Mansfield, Tenn.–The Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department battled two fires this morning, one of which destroyed a shop building and the other which caused damage to a home.
Firefighters were called to 971 Swor Rd. at 1:16 a.m. this morning. Assistant Fire Chief Darren Webb said the cause is under investigation.
The shop was a total loss and mutual aid was provided by Oakland Volunteer Fire Department.
Webb said with roadways still a mess with snow and ice, it was difficult for firefighters to get to both fires.
The second fire occured at 7:40 a.m. this morning at a home on Vale Road. It was caused by a stove pipe in the wall, Webb said. “We got there pretty quick”, he said, “so the damage was minimal”.
There were no injuries at either fire, he said.
