Kindergarten students and their teachers at Union City Elementary School got a whole lot older during one specific day recently.

A bell-to-bell celebration of the 100th day of the 2025-26 school year was held, and many were fully vested in the significance of the occasion.

Silver- and blue-haired “old ladies,” some with rollers, others with sagging stockings and glasses, were a commonplace sight in the UCES halls. There were plenty of “little old men,” too, with walkers, canes, suspenders, and bushy eyebrows and mustaches.

Several teachers got in on the fun, as well, with fuzzy slipers, house coats, and robes.

Numerous fun exercises and activities were part of the day-long 100 theme. Students were encouraged to write and count to 100; several centers were filled with 100 manipulatives, and students were allowed to make a snack with 100 items.

Carolina Conner, Director of the Obion County Public Library, was a special guest and treated students to a story.
