
Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger announced Henry County General Government continue to be closed Thursday, January 29, due to the ongoing hazardous travel conditions caused by Winter Storm Fern.Departments closed include the Courthouse, Annex, Airport, Central Building, Health Dept, Recycling Center and offices at Grove Campus.A decision will be made Thursday regarding Friday’s work schedule. Ice continues to cause hazardous road conditions due to refreezing at night. Thursday’s temperature is expected to reach 37 degrees.Mayor Geiger said, “In an abundance of caution, I have decided to remain closed on Thursday to give one more day of roadways to thaw to hopefully make travel safer on Friday” .Henry County Emergency Management Director Ron Watkins reports main roads continue to improve with single lanes clear on most main state roads, however, side streets and county roads remain ice covered and hazardous. Bitterly cold temperatures will return over the weekend. Single digit and even sub-zero wind chills are expected Saturday and Sunday mornings.Henry County continues to enjoy zero power issues today compared to other counties in Tennessee. Over 129,000 customers remain without power across Tennessee. Roads/bridges will remain hazardous during refreezing during the evening hours.Inman School Tornado Shelter, 400 Harrison St, Paris, remains open as a community warming shelter. There were 6 person there on Wednesday.
