Wickliffe, Ky.–The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans a daytime closure of the U.S. 51 Ohio River Cairo Bridge on Thursday, Jan. 22, to allow for a navigation lighting inspection.
The bridge, which connects Wickliffe and Cairo, will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., weather permitting. Crews will inspect electrical conduits and junction boxes associated with the bridge’s navigation lighting system.
Motorists traveling between Kentucky and Illinois are advised to use the I-24 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Metropolis as an alternate route.
KYTC District 1 officials said an update will be issued if the work is completed ahead of schedule.
