Dover, Tenn.–Stewart County Sheriff Frankie Gray had lunch with inmates in the jail Monday, which he does periodically for several reasons: It gives him the chance to taste and see the food, check the inmate pods to see how clean they are and hear inmates’ concerns. He makes the visits unannounced so that no one on the corrections or kitchen side knows he will be coming. County Commissioner Melissa Fields also ate lunch with the inmates, along with Sydni Scarborough, Program Assistant at the Stewart County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention. Commissioner Fields is also the Director of the Stewart County Prevention Coalition. Gray said, “We are very proud of our Detention Center; it’s clean and is run very efficiently. Our Detention Center always passes its yearly inspections, and our KITCHEN Staff does an outstanding job. Thank you, Commissioner Fields and Ms. Scarborough, for coming and seeing firsthand.” In photo, Gray and Commissioner Fields eat with an inmate. (Stewart Co. Sheriff’s Office photo).
