Obion, Tenn.–The Willow Tree Restaurant–located in one of the oldest buildings in Obion–was destroyed in an early-morning fire that drew mutual aid from multiple fire departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The two-story structure was built in 1848 by the founder of Obion and displayed local historic items.
At approximately 2:11 a.m., Obion Fire Department was dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire at 128 E. Palestine Ave.
Upon arrival, Fire Chief Kane Stacks assumed command. Fire crews found the two-story structure fully involved.
Hornbeak Fire Department and Troy Fire Department responded with automatic aid, and due to the extent of the fire, Union City, Kenton, and Rives Fire Departments were requested for mutual aid.
As a result of the incident, two nearby eighteen-wheelers sustained damage, and an adjacent building experienced smoke and minor fire damage.
In total, 22 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. It took roughly 4 hours to get the fire under control and complete overhaul operations.
Chief Stacks said, “We would like to extend a huge thank you to the following for their assistance and support:
• James Albright – heavy equipment
• Dairy Hut – coffee and food
• Baptist Ambulance Service
• Obion County 911
• Obion County Sheriff’s Department
• Obion County EMA
Your continued support of our first responders does not go unnoticed.”
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
