Arrest Made In Deadly Shooting At UC Nightclub

Union City, Tenn.–Union City Police Chief William Yates has announced that an arrest has been made in the deadly shooting that occurred at the Volume Lounge in Union City November 23.

According to Yates, Jamarquay Tirik Hockett was taken into custody without incident earlier today. He has been charged with one count of First Degree Murder and five counts of aggravated assault.

23-year-old Omariyon Harper of Union City was pronounced deceased from gunshot wounds and several other people were injured. At that time, a person of interest was identified and efforts were underway to locate and interview the individual concerning the shooting incident.

Yates said the arrest ‘represents a significant step toward justice for the victims and their families.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Union City Police Department or Obion County Crimestoppers.
