Springville, Tenn.–Major damage was caused to property in Springville owned by a Union City couple during a Friday fire.

Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said firefighters were dispatched to 230 Horseshoe Drive along with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and EMS on a report of a structure fire.

Arriving units found a fishing boat sitting in the carport of a structure already fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading into the mobile home next door and a storage shed.

Coles said the boat was a total loss while the mobile home suffered major damage from heat and smoke.

The owners, Keith and Cathy Forrester of Union City, were not there at the time of the incident.

While the exact cause has not been determined it appears accidental, Coles said. Damage estimated at $100,000.
