Waverly, Tenn.–Santa Claus was assaulted during the Humphreys County Christmas Parade of Lights over the weekend.
Joshua Phariss, age 31, of Waverly, was arrested Saturday, December 6, charged with assault, disorderly conduct, burglary, and resisting arrest.
According to WNWS, Phariss allegedly climbed into the bed of a parade float, shoved a teenager and then shoved and grabbed the person dressed as Santa for the parade. While the parade was still in progress, he then engaged in a physical altercation with another man on the roadway.
The owner of the float also pressed charges for burglary due to Phariss unlawfully entering the vehicle. Phariss was also charged with violation of probation and resisting arrest.
