Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Democratic Party and concerned citizens are holding a rally in support our local nurses, NP’s, PA’s teachers, physical therapists and other professionals whose access to student loans is being threatened. Therally will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13.
According to Democratic Party officials, “On November 21, 2025, US Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon announced that under HR 1, aka the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” teachers, nurses, physical therapists, engineers and architects will no longer be considered “professionals” and will severely limit access to student loans.”
At a time when rural Tennessee is already experiencing a critical shortage of these professionals, these cuts will be especially devasting to our well-being unless we act now.
The time to act and show your support is NOW. These proposed cuts are in the final rulemaking process at the Dept. of Education, but could go through unless we demand our lawmakers press for changes.
