Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Mayor Randy Geiger has notified county officials and the county Republican Party that he does not intend to run for office again.

Geiger told HenryCountyNow that he plans to serve as County Mayor until September 1, 2026, “but I won’t be throwing my hat in the ring or campaigning for County Mayor again.”

Geiger said he has enjoyed his time as Mayor, “But I was retired before I became County Mayor and I liked being retired. I think I’ve done a lot of good in addressing some of the issues facing the county, but it’s a very demanding job and I want to focus on my family now.”

He has grandkids who are involved in a lot of activities now “and I’d like to be with them and the family more. I will stay active in the community, but with my family priorities, I don’t want to overdo it.”

Geiger said he has been to other parts of the state “and I hope people really appreciate how good we have it here. We do have things that have been neglected in the past–that’s why I ran in the first place–and we need to be looking at a new county office building and a bell tower for the courthouse. It has been my pleasure working as County Mayor but my focus will be on my family priorities.”
