Calloway County, Ky.–A driver was able to escape from a burning vehicle in Calloway County although the vehicle had a full tank of fuel, intensifying the blaze.

Sunday, November 16, at approximately 5:30pm Calloway County 911 Communications Center dispatched Calloway County Fire & Rescue out to the 200 block of Peach Orchard Road near the Stella community for a vehicle on fire.
Upon arrival of the first units, they found a newer model Jeep Grand Cherokee fully engulfed in flames on the edge of a field just off the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle before it became fully involved.
Murray-Calloway County EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the driver and he was medically cleared and released from the scene.
The vehicle was reported to have a full tank of fuel, which intensified the fire conditions and required additional time and effort to bring under control and fully extinguish. Firefighters utilized water and foam to fully extinguish the flames and prevent further spread.
Upon speaking with the driver, they stated that they were driving down the road when the vehicle experienced a malfunction; once they pulled over, the vehicle caught fire.
CCFR responded with two pumpers, one tanker, and one brush truck with 9 firefighters who were on scene for approximately two hours. They would like to thank the Murray-Calloway County EMS personnel and Calloway County Sheriff’s Office deputies for their assistance. Max’s 641 Towing was requested by the owner to remove the vehicle from the scene.
