Main Street Union City Announces Christmas Events

uc-christm

UNION CITY, TENN. – Main Street Union City has several events scheduled that will get the community in the spirit of Christmas.

Main Street will present the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thurs., Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in front of the Obion County Courthouse with Santa and Mrs. Claus taking photos at the tree prior to the event from 4 to 6 p.m. During the ceremony, guests will enjoy hearing favorite Christmas carols from the Obion County Children’s Choir, the Voices of Union City and students from the 2025 Fairshow before the countdown begins to light the tree.

Another special addition to this evening includes downtown merchants staying open late for guests to begin their Christmas shopping and kick off Christmas Open House Weekend. Shopping local is a great way to support locally-owned and operated shops and eateries, as well as make an economic impact in Union City.

“Downtown will be sparkling with the magic of Christmas on this special evening,” said Katie Graves, executive director for Main Street. “Having events such as the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony combined with Christmas Open House Weekend creates a fun event for our community and officially welcomes the Christmas season downtown. We want to encourage everyone to shop locally before or after the tree lighting ceremony since the majority of our downtown merchants will be open later with special deals and gift ideas.”

Two special food trucks will be set up downtown for this evening only – Pope’s Concessions and The Hangry Fixx.

Christmas Open House Weekend continues Nov. 14 and 15 at participating downtown merchants.

After enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday, be sure to head downtown on Sat., Nov. 29 to “Shop Small” on Small Business Saturday. Supporting downtown businesses on Small Business Saturday shows local support and boosts the economy for Union City.

On Thurs., Dec. 4, Main Street will host the “Union City Christmas Parade” and 6:30 p.m. down S. First Street. Businesses who would like to participate in the parade can register online. There is a required $10 registration fee per vehicle that can be paid online. Unique floats and decorated vehicles are highly encouraged. Candy can be passed out this year, but cannot be thrown from moving vehicles. Online registration will be open soon.
