Camden, Tenn.–Benton County Commissioner Stephen Stokes has pleaded guilty to sexual battery and his sentencing has been set in Circuit Court.
In August, Stokes was taken into custody at his home after he was a no-show at his scheduled court date on the charge of sexual battery with a minor. Stokes was indicted by a Benton County Grand Jury June 3rd on one count of sexual battery with a minor, which is an offense that dates back to 2022.
Stokes currently is being held in the Benton County Jail.
Court officials said sentencing has been set for December 15. Procedures to replace him on the County Commission will commence after his sentencing.
