Union City, Tenn.–The Obion County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on the social media post that caused security measures to be taken at Lake Road School today.
“The Obion County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Union City Police Department of a complaint regarding a social media post stating, “Get Ready Lake Road Tomorrow is Going to be a Party.” Out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement resources were deployed to Lake Road School to ensure the safety of students and staff. The Obion County School System promptly issued a mass text and automated call to inform parents of the situation.
“Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the post originated from outside the local area and did not specifically reference Lake Road School. The Obion County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Union City Police Department, Homeland Security, and the Obion County School System, has concluded that the post does not pose a credible threat to the school.
“The safety of our children remains our highest priority, and the Obion County Sheriff’s Office and School System are committed to taking proactive measures to ensure a secure environment. We express our gratitude to the Union City Police Department, Homeland Security, and the Obion County School System for their swift cooperation and support in addressing this matter.”
