Union City, Tenn.–On a videotaped message Sunday, Obion County Mayor Steve Carr said an investigation is ongoing at Obion County Nursing and Rehab has uncovered financial improprieties. Carr said alleged misappropriation of funds started in 2024 and the audit has revealed discrepancy of over at least $300,000, with more anticipated.
No one has been charged at this point in the investigation.
“The findings are disturbing in that there’s evidence of some major impropriety on salaries being paid and money that is going out from the nursing home, and we’re talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars,” Carr said.
Three nursing home office employees have been placed on unpaid administrative leave, he said.
The state comptroller’s office is going to be joining the investigation.
