UC Runners Pack Medal Stand At Invitational

Union City High School’s cross country teams had six medal winners in the Trinity Christian Academy Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.

Woodrow McKinnis (2nd), Rushdon Howell (5th), Madix Turner (7th), and Miloh Turner (9th) gave the Tornado boys a quartet of Top 10 finishers in the 3.1-mile race in Jackson.

McKinnis was timed in 17:08, Howell 17:24, and the Turner brothers at 17:54 and 18:15, respectively, as UC placed second in the team competition. There were representatives from 33 schools to participate, with 173 boys and 120 girls.

Madison Academic edged the Twisters 34-40 for the top spot in the team standings.

Owen Waggoner (23rd), Camden Watts (45th), and Matvii Kostanian (52nd) also competed for Union City, as did Wrigley Harder.

Ainsley Sadler came in 12th for the Lady Tornadoes, and teammate Ainsley Beard was 17th. Sadler ran the course in 23:54, while Beard was clocked at 24:21. Hadlee Duncan placed 37th.

UC will compete in the Best of the West at Obion County Central on Tuesday.
