Dover, Tenn.–Two men were arrested on drugs, guns, attempting to evade capture and other charges after a chase through Dover.

Stewart County Sheriff’s Lt. Robbie MacDonald observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Bear Springs. Lt. MacDonald who was off duty at the time called 911 and followed the vehicle into Dover.

Deputy Ryan Griffin and Sgt. Charles Fisher attempted to stop the vehicle but they refused to stop and turned down to the Surrender House attempting to avoid the deputies.

Once the vehicle was back on Hwy. 79 the driver headed east still refusing to stop and running at speeds over 110 mph. Cpl. Josh Miller setup spike stripes before the high school. Two of the vehicle tires were flattened but the driver refused to stop and continued east at a slower speed. The driver turned into the parking lot of the Subway at Joiner Hollow Road and struck a vehicle in the parking lot before turning onto Joiner Hollow Road.

When the vehicle attempted to turn onto Hwy. 120, Deputy Ryan Griffin ended the pursuit by striking the vehicle with his patrol unit and forcing the vehicle off the roadway and into a ditch.

A loaded auto AK-47 and a pistol with a suppressor on it was found in the vehicle as well as methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was found to be DUI and he has warrants out of Texas and the passenger is wanted out of Montgomery County on drug charges. A great job Deputies protecting our county and getting these two (2) off the roadway but also outstanding TEAM work.
