
MCKENZIE, Tenn. -Funeral Services for Bruce Herrin are Monday, September 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Herrin Cemetery, Somerset, KY.
Coach Herrin, 77 years old died Friday at his residence. He is a member of Henry Church of Christ and was a member of Somerset Baptist Church. He is a retired teacher and Coach at McKenzie Schools, a member of Bethel College Hall of Fame (2014), Outstanding Athletics of America in 1969 and an Honorable Mention on All KY team. He was born on October 2, 1947, in Somerset, KY to Otis and Mattie Minter Herrin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Donna Barnett Herrin, daughter Holly (David) Porter of Henry, a son Brad Herrin of Murfreesboro and two sisters Hadie (Benny) White and Myrna Florence Criswell all of Somerset, KY, four grandchildren Ryleigh H. (Troy) Mruk, Brycen Herrin, Will Porter and Evie Porter and one great- granddaughter Hadlee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jr. Herrin and Jimmy Herrin.
Bethel Interim Director of Athletics Dave McCulley commented, “Bruce Herrin was and remains one of the more beloved athletes to ever play at Bethel. His performance on the baseball diamonds and basketball courts speaks volumes but also, the way he conducted himself remains a huge part of his legacy. All of us at the school and in our department send our deepest condolences along with hugs and prayers to the entire family.”
