Battle Of The Barrel Returns Friday Night

Paris, Tenn.–The tradition of the Battle of the Barrel returns!

The Henry County and Dickson County School Systems are excited to announce the renewal of a tradition established in 1999 by both schools during the annual football game between the two schools. The winner gets to take the barrel home and display it for students and fans.

Battle of the Barrel game will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, September 12th 2025, at Patriot Stadium in Paris.

Summers said: “The atmosphere at Patriot Stadium will be electric this Friday evening as two outstanding
communities are represented on the field and in the stands. Both schools are looking forward to
an unforgettable night.”

Tradition started in the Fall of 1999 by former Principals Rick Kriesky (HC) and Ralph Overton (DC)
Originally called “The Battle of the Milk Barrel”
Barrel displays the score of every contest

Total of 38 games

Teams first played each other in 1977
Teams last meeting was 2016
Henry County won the first two games

Dickson County won the first ten out of fifteen meetings
Henry County has won the last eight contests
Henry County holds a slight edge in total victories 21 to 17
