MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University welcomes former Secret Service Special Agent and Interrogator Evy Poumpouras for an engaging program focused on leadership on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Lovett Auditorium.

The event is part of a premier leadership speaking series titled “Leadership by Design,” hosted annually on Murray State’s campus by Bacon Farmer Workman (BFW)/Marcum Engineering, a firm led by Murray State alumnus and BFW/Marcum Engineering Executive Vice President Mark Workman.

BFW/Marcum Engineering invites the public to join Pompouras for an extraordinary evening in historic Lovett Auditorium as she reveals how emotional intelligence can become one’s most powerful leadership tool. She will share thrilling anecdotes from her experiences in the Secret Service, offering a rare behind-the-curtain look at one of the oldest and elite security forces in the world, and showing the audience how they can apply Secret Service principles of communication, leadership, psychology and inclusion in their own pursuits.

Poumpouras is a former Secret Service special agent with more than 12 years of experience protecting the world’s most high-profile figures, including Presidents Obama, Bush, Clinton and Bush Sr. Today, she is a respected multimedia journalist, host and producer known for her insightful interviews and investigative prowess. Regularly featured on “TODAY,” MSNBC and “Good Morning America,” Poumpouras shares her expertise on national security and law enforcement as NBC’s Law Enforcement Contributor.

In addition to safeguarding the nation’s heads of state, during her tenure in the Secret Service, Poumpouras worked complex criminal investigations, operated undercover and was an interrogator for the agency’s elite polygraph unit specially trained in the art of lie detection, human behavior and cognitive influence. She was among the first responders during the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center and was honored with the United States Secret Service Valor Award in recognition of her heroic efforts.

Represented by Leading Authorities Speakers Bureau, Poumpouras is celebrated for her engaging talks that blend lessons from her Secret Service career with strategies for personal and professional growth. She captivates audiences with firsthand stories and offers practical insights on communication, leadership and resilience.

Beyond her media career, Poumpouras is an adjunct professor at The City University of New York, teaching criminal justice and criminology. Her TEDx talk, “Words: Your Most Powerful Weapon,” and bestselling book, “Becoming Bulletproof,” further demonstrate her commitment to empowering others with actionable strategies for success.

“We are proud to partner with Murray State University for the third consecutive year to host our Leadership by Design event,” said Mark Workman, executive vice president of BFW/Marcum Engineering. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders.
