Paris, Tenn.–This year’s annual Field Day, held on August 5, began with a beautiful morning that brought together 55 growers and several industry professionals from across the region for a day of connection, networking, and learning.
Hosted by Henry Farmers Co-op, the event highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to providing localized, data-driven recommendations for growers in every region.
Following a delicious breakfast, the focus quickly turned to education. Attendees explored a wide range of innovative products and agronomic practices currently under trial at the plot. The event gave growers a front-row seat to what Henry Farmers Co-op is testing—and why it matters.
A few key speakers included HFC General Manager Kenny Kingins, Sales Manager Jordan Parr, and Agronomists Caleb Little and Jay Green, who shared insights on current trials, product performance, and field-level strategies.
Recognizing that no two products, or farms, are the same, HFC’s Field Day showcased a unique plot experience that allowed attendees to see real-world results. One of the key highlights was the residual bare-ground plot, where four different residual herbicides were applied at recommended rates without the interference of crops like corn or soybeans. This allowed for clear observation of each product’s effectiveness. Results can be viewed and tracked using a blend of field scouting, drone footage, and satellite imagery with vegetative index analysis.
In addition to herbicide trials, growers were shown new market products designed to improve return on investment (ROI) during herbicide decision-making for various crops. The plot also featured trials on different hybrids and seed varieties, as well as tests on nitrogen application strategies—evaluating both product types and application rates—to better understand impacts on yield and plant health.
Throughout the day, growers had the chance to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore how these insights could be applied to their own operations. Henry Farmers Co-op manages multiple plots across various counties in the Tennessee and Kentucky regions, allowing for more comprehensive regional insights and continuous innovation.
In addition to the plot tour, this year HFC brings an exciting opportunity to growers—a Corn Contest designed to put innovation into action! Reflecting HFC’s ongoing commitment to progress in agriculture, the contest doubles as a hands-on research opportunity to explore and assess new strategies in the field. It offers a fun, competitive way for growers to get involved while providing a valuable platform for HFC to test and evaluate new products, hybrids, and agronomic practices under real-world conditions.
As agriculture continues to evolve, events like HFC Field Day remain essential for keeping growers informed, empowered, and connected to the latest tools and technologies shaping the future of farming!
