UC Schools’ Day 1 A Smooth One For Students, Staff

1st-day-2025-11

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director

Day 1 of the 2025-26 school year for students and staff at Union City Schools was a good one.

Smiling faces, curious minds, and eager hearts were each part of the landscape for all involved as classes began in earnest for more than 1,700 students on three separate UCSS campuses.

Principals at each school reported an excellent first day, from drop-off to pick-up time at Union City Elementary and UC Middle School to the traffic flow at UCHS.

“I’m never surprised by our people and their willingness to go the extra mile for their students,” Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said, noting an increased overall enrollment and several new students who registered today. “The first day of school each year comes with a unique set of challenges, but once again, our teachers and staff went above and beyond to help students.”

Faculty and school personnel welcomed students at every level, getting them acclimated to new surroundings, pointing them in the right direction, and easing any anxieties that regularly come with Day 1 of a new school year.

UC students will be in classes five days a week until the Labor Day holiday on September 1.
