Benton County, Tennessee–An arrest warrant has been issued for Benton County Commissioner Stephen Stokes after he was a no-show at his scheduled court date on the charge of sexual battery with a minor.
Stokes also has been a no-show at County Commission meetings, having reportedly been absent for about a year and a half. He is still listed as a commissioner for District 1, however.
Stokes was indicted by a Benton County Grand Jury June 3rd on one count of sexual battery with a minor, which is an offense that dates back to 2022.
The Benton County Circuit Court officials said Stokes was set to appear in court Monday, August 11.
