The Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge hosted a class for the Tennessee Naturalist Program for Mussel Biology and Ecology. The class was held for 17 attendees on the refuge at the Duck River Bottoms area. A huge thanks to instructors TWRA biologist David Sims and USGS Fisheries Research Unit biologist Amanda Rosenberger, who also teaches Malacology at Tennessee Technology University. Assisting also was Katelynn Sallack. In the field portion of the class, 19 species of mussels were found and identified including a federally endangered 25-30 year old female Pink Mucket! Refuge photo.
