Tiptonville, TN — A Lake County Jury found Michelle Basham and Jared Scott guilty of the first-degree murder of Birdie Terry Friday in Lake County Circuit Court. Immediately following the conviction, Judge Mark Hayes sentenced both defendants to life in prison.
District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr. said, “This is just another example of an innocent person being taken from her family by the senseless violence that occurs every day. We at the district attorney’s office will continue to work hard to ensure that violent criminals are taken off the streets to prevent future crimes.”
This case was investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agents Justin Tubbs and Matt Harber with assistance of the Tiptonville Police Department and was prosecuted by District Attorney General Danny Goodman, Jr. and Assistant District Attorney General Andrew Hays.
