Paris, Tenn.–At a busy meeting Monday evening, the Henry County Commission approved the 2-25-2026 budget and once again did not finalize approval of an additional wheel tax.
The budget was approved on second reading and it was announced the property tax rate will be $1.1991 per $100 of assessed property value. Previous rate was $1.9333. The general fund will be balanced by using $528,000 from the county fund balance.
After more discussion, the wheel tax resolution was again amended to clarify that its revenues will be used on construction and/or improvements on four projects: restoration of the bell tower at the courthouse, construction of a new county services building, and renovation of buildings at 311 E. Wood St. (former HCMC Wellness Center) and 1108 Tyson Ave. (Tennessee Rehabilitation Commission building).
