
Fulton, Ky.–Felony arrest warrants have been issued for two men charged with desecrating a Native American burial site in Fulton County.
The Fulton County Grand Jury indicted Michael Shannon Wilson and Matthew James Kell, both of Graves County, on charges including desecration of venerated objects, criminal trespassing and defacement or disturbance of historical grounds.
The investigation by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office determined that the pair unlawfully entered land known to contain a significant Native American burial ground. They allegedly excavated the site and removed artifacts, including human remains.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs, Chickasaw Nation and other organizations in its investigation.
