Paris, Tenn.–The trick to painting in this heat? Get an early start! Painting ladies Debra Davenport, left, and Ann Stapp, right, got to the Henry County Courthouse lawn at 6:15 a.m. when, Stapp said, “it was actually really pleasant. We set up under a shade tree. But we were gone by 11. It was already getting too hot then.” Stapp is a proponent of the plein air method of painting (painting outdoors with the subject in full view) and has been painting outdoor views in the local area for several years. The two were painting with oils on this particular day. Photo by Jennifer Gallimore.
